Preparation Lawyer at Eskilstuna District Court

Eskilstuna District Court is a medium-sized court handling criminal cases, civil cases, and various matters. Our operations are characterized by quality, efficiency, and a pleasant work environment. The court is organized into two case divisions and one administrative unit. We have about 45 employees. The court values modern working methods, including digitized case and matter management.

Eskilstuna is a growing city in Mälardalen, surrounded by beautiful outdoor areas and waterways. The city is home to Mälardalen University. Commuting options are very good, with a train ride to Stockholm taking about 60 minutes. The court is located in modern premises opposite the train station.

Job Responsibilities

The court is seeking one or more preparation lawyers. As a preparation lawyer, you will have the opportunity to develop as a lawyer while also gaining experience in supervisory tasks. The work as a preparation lawyer involves independently handling criminal cases, dispositive civil cases, and matters. You will lead oral preparations in dispositive civil cases and make decisions on them. You will serve as the chairperson in main hearings in criminal cases when conditions permit. In consultation with the responsible judge, you may also be responsible for the preparation of complex or extensive cases and matters.

As a preparation lawyer, you will also be responsible for leading and distributing the work of the clerks in areas that lie outside the work that the clerks perform for the judges. This includes distributing and following up on FT cases and matters and assigning clerks to hearings. Another important task is to provide legal support to the clerks and court administrators during the preparation of cases and matters. You will also have the opportunity to participate in efforts to develop the court's routines and working methods. The role also includes developing and coordinating certain joint training initiatives for the clerks.

In your work, you will closely collaborate with the court's management team and other staff. The work may also involve external contacts with parties, lawyers, and other representatives, authorities, and the public.

Desired Qualifications and Profile

Applicants should, upon taking up the position, be qualified from a general court. The work requires high legal skill and accuracy. You should be solution-oriented in your working approach and have the ability to quickly shift focus and prioritize between different issues without compromising on accuracy and quality. You should also have very good administrative skills, be results-oriented, and enjoy setting and working towards established goals. You should have good potential to be a good leader for the clerks in their work. It is essential that you have excellent communication skills and can build good relationships with your colleagues. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

This is a permanent position that begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date is negotiable.
